This illustration for Illustration Friday this week is from the newest book I recently illustrated titled Harp Mouse Adventures - Book II, sold with or without mouse finger puppet, written by Diane E Dunn, the second book in the Harp Mouse series. The first of course being The Harp Mouse Chooses Her Home: The Adventure Begins, also sold with or without the little mouse finger puppet.

In the latest book, the harp mouse stowed away inside the harp when it left the harp maker's workshop, and now she lives in a cozy warm home. When she sees the harp leaving to be played for special occasions, she scampers into the harp and goes along for the ride. Find out where her adventures will take her!

Diane and I will be signing books at The Arts & Greens Holiday Market at Bogie Lake Greenhouses where many artists will be exhibiting and selling their one-of-a-kind works of art and craft prior to the holidays. I too will have a booth choked full of goodies for you to peruse. Bogie Lake Greenhouse is an extraordinary 28,000 square foot facility, complete with natural lighting, plants, flowers, and lovely holiday greens. Held on Friday, November 19 (5-8 PM), Saturday, November 20 (9 AM-5 PM) and Sunday, November 21 (10 AM - 5 PM.) Stop by and see us and pick up both copies of the Harp Mouse Adventures! With all the distractions that are part of our waking hours, it is no wonder that the simplest sounds of an ordinary day are overlooked and taken for granted. Sounds like the crackling of ice, raindrops on a rooftop, the rumble of an approaching storm, and even turning the page of a book are so commonplace that we seldom--if at all--take time to appreciate them. Yet, when the ability to hear these everyday sounds is taken away--as in Marsha Engle's case--we are humbly reminded of their value. As she was slowly losing her hearing, Marsha hired professional photographer William Huber to capture these ordinary sounds in stunning photographs, and they have collected them here in this unique and breathtaking book for both the hearing and hearing impaired to enjoy. 100 Sounds I Wish I Could Hear is a tribute to the beauty of hearing and a gentle reminder to the hearing world to listen to and appreciate everyday sounds.

Milford Memories ~ Great Weekend!

One of the many customers that purchased one of the many different styles of T-shirts and paraphernalia sold at Milford Memories 2010 this past weekend. Millford Memories This Weekend!

Please come join me this weekend for the

Milford Memories Summer Festival.

I am the featured artist for this year's event. This means not only will I have a booth available with my paintings, prints, cards, "qwerky" jewelry and illustrated books, but the authors of these books will also be there to sign them with me. Diane E Dunn, author of "The Harp Mouse Chooses Her Home: The Adventure Begins" and "Harp Mouse Adventures - Book II" will be there signing books on Saturday Aug 14th and Rachel Longhurst author of "The Enchanted Tree of Crooked Lake" and "Where My Story Begins" will be there Friday and Sunday, Aug 13th and 15th signing hers. There will be tons of art, jewelry and just about everything else by artisans all over the country. There will be Face Painting by the Village Fine Arts Association in front of (or close to) the Milford House Bar and Grill, where my friend Linda Onderko and others will be squeezing cheeks the entire weekend, painting the sweet faces of your adorable younguns, as lines are backed up around the block! There will be loads of events for children AND adults AND family fun! So take some time this weekend to come say hello to me... Twister's dental work

Twister gets his teeth floated

I can never get enough of watching the horses get their teeth floated by the equine dentist. Just enough sedation makes them so agreeable they'll let you do just about anything. There is always some serious rasping of the teeth noise during these visits and you KNOW it's really loud inside their heads! Just a few minutes before this photo was taken, Twister was pounding on the wall of the stall to get out, patience not being his best virtue. Without sedation, just the squirt of a fly spray bottle (Karen's [not pictured here]pet peeve) or the sudden movement of a plastic bag on a windy day (Twister's peeve) can sometimes send them into hysterics!

This is Gregory Dunn of Digital Imagery LLC, scanning illustrations for the book. The following are MY Outrageous Lies:

1. In my previous life I was born in a puppy mill.

2. As I grew older I was kept in a cage day after day and was only used to help the owner make more puppies.

3. I watched helplessly as my owner lined his pockets with money and didn't buy me the food, or give me the care I needed to stay healthy. He never took me out to go to the bathroom. I grew so thin and my paws became splayed from clinging to the floor of the cage.  

4. I was sometimes packed in my cage with many other dogs where we could barely move and we all cried together.

5. Other times, for many days in a row, I was left alone... really alone... and all I could think to do was make up a game called "bite the flies."

6. I longed for someone to save me.

My my gloriously outrageous truth:

WE SAVED HIM!!!!
